MEDIA MADNESS

An innovative curriculum that blends media literacy and health education to provide the “missing piece” in abstinence education. The Media Madness program can be used to enhance or reinforce existing abstinence programs. It can also be used as a stand alone program.

The Media Madness Leader's Guide includes information and exercises on:

1. The biased picture about sex and its consequences given to teens by the media
2. Money-making techniques used by the media that can influence teens' sexual thoughts and actions
3. The media's use of sounds and images to construct its own sexual realities
4. The need for teens to set personal stopping points regarding sexual behaviors regardless of negative modeling in the media
5. How pressures can be intensified when media messages about sex are echoed by peers
6. Resisting harmful messages about gender and sexual behavior
7. Understanding and exercising rights in relation to the media

Media Madness comes with Leader's Guide and video (or DVD). There are 5 (five) 50 minute sessions.
