Reaching out to Teens
in Health Care Waiting Areas

 

 

 

Issue:

Teens are eager to be in relationships but often unprepared to manage their more complex aspects including their sexual health. While teen are waiting to see a health care provider, there is a 'teachable moment' where they are ready to learn about issues regarding their sexual health.

 

 

Project:

The Teen Health Series is a ground-breaking initiative to provide teen-friendly computer presentations health care waiting areas. The 19 Educational Computer Presentations also are linked to age-appropriate reproductive health websites to help young people focus on key areas of knowledge needed for healthy decision-making and quickly access related information.

Research indicates that viewing educational computer presentations in conjunction with a visit to a health care provider can positivly influence adolescent sexual behavior.
