RESEARCH APPLICATION
The Jane Fonda Center, with the leading edge resources of Emory University, researches the complex physical and social issues of adolescence.
Utilizing information gained, the Center develops programs, curricula, and other materials to disseminate to professionals who guide adolescents in order to ensure the adolescent’s positive passage to adulthood.
TRAINING
The Jane Fonda Center trains professionals in medicine, public health, education, social work, juvenile justice, and youth development to:
- Identify sexuality issues with teens
- Provide clinical diagnosis and treatment of childhood sexual abuse
- Understand the dynamics of poverty, sexual and emotional abuse, and race as they impact adolescent health and development
- Develop media literacy
- Develop resistance skills so as to avoid early and unsafe sex
- Teach self-empowerment and parenting skills
