MEDIA MADNESS:
AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PARENTS

This half day training enables educators to present Media Madness to Parents. |
By the time teens reach age 18, they will have been exposed to 500,000 sexual messages in the media.
The goal of the Media Madness Parent Series is to enable parents to mentor their children in realtion to the media. It aims to help parents to:
* Be informed that the goal of the media is not to provide positive guidance for youth
* Understand media parental rights
* Learn ways to discuss the media with their children
* Become aware of media techniques that affect them and their children
* Reinforce the information and skills learned by their children through the Media Madness Young Teen Series or Media Madness Preteen Series
Media Madness meets Federal and State guidelines requiring that eight key elements be addressed in providing youth abstinence education.

Dates: Trainings are being scheduled throughout 2009 with funds provided by OAPP, AFL, US Department of Health and Human Services
Cost: Materials and trainings are provided without charge to Georgia educators who can reach 10 or more parents of middle school children within one year.
Educators in Georgia participating in the Media Madness: Parent Series Training also are invited, but not required to attend the Media Madness: Young Teen Seriers Training and vice versa.
