Mission

The mission of the Jane Fonda Center is to advance scientific knowledge about adolescence with an emphasis on adolescent reproductive health. It seeks to disseminate information and strategies for risk reduction and healthy transitions to adulthood.

Mission Fulfillment

To carry out its mission, the Jane Fonda Center engages in activities that have the potential for creating needed social change and enhancing service delivery. These activities include education and training, research, evaluation, policy development, as well as program and materials development. Specialized adolescent patient care is carried out through contractual arrangements between Emory University and Grady Health System and is centered in the Grady Hospital Teen Services Program.

Philosophy

The social, emotional, physical, and psychological transitions experienced by youth throughout the pubertal years have the power to influence attitudes and patterns of behavior throughout life.

Less attention has been paid to the beginning of the reproductive life span than to the middle childbearing years and to menopausal transitions. The Jane Fonda Center is addressing this gap.
